Preparing for Prom Night

Posted by moderator in Prom Info (Monday March 13, 2006 at 4:52 pm)

To make your prom perfect and unforgettable, preparations should begin at least 3 months before the big night.

You can begin prom preparations 3, or even 4 months, beforehand. To begin, sit down with a pen and paper, and then outline your prom budget. Of course, your prom dress will take up a big chunk of the budget, but there are other things to take into consideration when figuring your prom allowance. Shoes and accessories should be included and tanning or hair salon appointments. Prom tickets, transportation, and pictures should also be accounted for.

Finding the right dress for prom will probably take the most time, so it’s best to get a good head start. If your prom gown has to be ordered, you should allow up to 8 weeks for delivery. Of course you need to have the dress in plenty of time to make sure it fits properly or any altercations need to be made.

Next, decide if you’re going to have a date for prom. This could take a few weeks for the either of you to get the courage to ask. Remember you should ask someone a couple of weeks in advance and not wait until the last minute. Once you have a date in line for the prom, begin discussing transportation and post-prom plans.

While in the midst of all the preparations and excitement, take some time just for you. Begin an exercise routine, eat healthy, and get plenty of rest before prom night. Spend a night with your best friend watching a movie, or host a sleepover to share secrets, tips and advice from your close friends. By pampering yourself a little, you’ll look even more radiant for the occasion.

As prom night approaches, remember to order corsages and boutonnieres. Ask your date if he would like for you to go with him to pick out his tux. Even though guys don’t experience the trauma of not being able to find the right prom-wear as do girls, they still should pick out a tux a month in advance.

As prom night arrives, remember to relax and don’t panic. Don’t forget to include any essentials for your purse that you might need later such as a spare pair of pantyhose, make-up and most importantly, bring along some extra money.
